Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from the soil from Sanjay Gandhi National Park (Borivali East sector)
6 individual strains were obtained from the different locations. The strains produced hydrogen sulfide gas. To determine the substrate from which hydrogen sulfide gas is evolved the various stains were inoculated on the substrate medium like L-cysteine, thiourea, thiolactic acid  and sodium thiosulphate.

The screening of organic sulfur compounds was done by suspending the organism in the broth containing the substrate in physiological saline containing 5% dextrose. Lead acetate strip held in the tube in the screw cap stopper of the tubes. incubated at 37 C on water bath for six hours. hydrogen sulfide gas is also observed in LIA, Kliger Iron Agar, Triple sugar iron agar, Cysteine deaminease agar.
